Myanmar inspection

We went to visit Yangon in Myanmar from September 8th to 11th.

I am the first Myanmar. Alongside Cambodia, I heard that the development of Myanmar has been remarkable over the past few years, while ethnic conflicts have occurred in the country, and it is certain that there are various problems even though development is progressing It seems to be.

This time I would like to visit JICA, the Japan Foundation, the Nippon Foundation etc, and introduced the Siem Reap’s art school “SmallArtSchool” to the free art school “NewZero” in Yangon. I am doing an exhibition of the students, I think that I was able to visit at a very good timing.

Artist Aye Ko, representative of NewZero, and the artists surrounding him seemed to be like volunteers at the end of the Tokugawa period. “Art” and “political dissemination” in Myanmar are located in a very close place, I could feel “art” which is different from Cambodia as well as Western and Japanese as well. And we got an opportunity to present the activities of SocialCompass and talked about in front of about 30 students, artists and journalists of Myanmar people. I feel that I can make opportunities to animate with them in the near future.

Besides that, I also visited the Myanmar Film Festival where the Japan Foundation is involved in the management and conference events where lacquer artists gather from Japan and the world.

And the most surprising thing when visiting Myanmar this time is kore! ! !

It is as if it is “Punnnon” as it is produced by us and serialized in monthly magazine Phnon!
In case
This is serialized in Japanese-style free paper “It’s Yuki ☆ Tanya! ! ! “. The same concept of picking up some sort of Myanmar’s story is the same.
In case
This cartoon is drawn by Yumen Shinya who runs a souvenir shop in Yangon.
We set up shops in the Bogyo Market in the center of Yangon, and we are developing souvenirs and cookie business.

Not only that, he invited a teacher from Kyoto Seika University’s Department of Comics, held a manga workshop, and in the future he wanted to open a manga school in Myanmar.
In case
“Tanya” is a special name of Myanmar · spirit of brown sugar. There seems to be a costume already. Just like “Wattie”!
In case
By all means, I want you to collaborate with Wattie someday!

And the Nippon Foundation has done numerous activities in Myanmar. We are building schools in the countryside and supporting leprosy patients. Among them, I was surprised that myanmar language manga issue was done. It is said that he creates cartoons based on Myanmar’s great men and distributes it to schools.

In case
I was able to meet with the artist Wa Lone who painted that cartoon at the Japan Culture House co – operated by the Japan Foundation coincidentally. Along with artist activities, it seems that they also make cartoon productions and animation ads.
In case
Also in Myanmar, there seems to be a lot of creative and innocentrous things.
